Role of EO-PO-EO Block Copolymers in Drug Delivery and Image-Guided Interventions

This project investigates the applications of surfactants and surfactant-like molecules in drug delivery systems and in image guided interventions. Applications are explored in areas such as modulation of burst release, ultrasound-mediated drug delivery, contrast agent delivery and saline delivery for radiofrequency tumor ablation.

Project PI: Agata Exner

MR image of NaCl in polymer matrix versus saline injection in rabbit muscle. The delivery of saline in a thermosensitive gel can potentially increase the volume of ablation in a more controlled manner than saline alone. This work was done in collaboration with S. Nour and S. Rafie from the MR Research Group.
